| 5/11/09 71 Mag ______________________________________________________ New online magazine 71 has just hit the web and features 4play’s very own Dallas Singer on the cover of its debut issue. Dallas had this to say about the online cover glory,” I wasn’t to sure what to expect from 71 before I logged on, but the content was all top notch and the photos were amazing also, especially the cover! Haha”. Chad Waldron, mastermind behind the Boom podcast series also edited a short clip of Dall that was featured as part of page one, “Really happy with the short cover clip as well, the footage was complied over two surfs during a winter swell on the south coast, in which I felt real comfortable on the boards that Fish had shaped me up a few weeks earlier. My Tri-core board didn’t let me down once this winter, actually it helped me get further up if anything haha”. Dallas is now looking at a strong finish in the Australian Pro Tour in the last event on the Gold Coast following his winning form in the South Australian round of the tour last month. “Just working out my comp head in prep for Goldy now Fish” is all he was giving away about his attack plan going in to the last event. With a years sponsorship on the line the competition was fierce. Early round stand outs were Taylor Brockman, Jacob Lee, Liam Tomkins and Shane Marsetti. The good conditions made for some great viewing. Before the final a 30min Expression Session was held seeing Dallas Singer and Thomas Robinson going for it in the wedging conditions. Dallas blasting a big air reverse and Thomas back flipping off every wedge that came his way. The waves continued to pump for the final and a traveling hump back whale even called in to check out some of the action. In the end 17year old Todd McCorie walked away with the year’s sponsorship, winning the final in the last minute with a big full rotation air reverse. 2nd place went to Taylor McAlary, 3rd Corey Daglish and 4th Connor Nelson. Dallas commented “some of the surfing was phenomenal, the groms were tearing. Todd ripped all day so I think he will be a great new member to the team, I’m looking forward to surfing with him.” The event raised over one thousand dollars for the JAAGO charity organization.
